Project outline

Commissioned on 1 June 2012, the railway line was one of the strategic and the most awaited public transport projects in Warsaw. The line allows passengers to travel from the centre of Warsaw to the Frederic Chopin International Airport in 20 minutes. For comparison, it takes about an hour to cover the same distance by bus or by car. One of the objectives of this project was to facilitate journeys to and from the airport for football fans coming to Poland for the EURO 2012 tournament.

Greatest challenges

Commissioning the facility before the beginning of UEFA EURO 2012.

Key moment

Constructing a pumping station and transformer station no. 2 with the combined height of approximately 20 m, including 16 m of the underground part.
