Heavy machinery chamber at ZG Lubin

The 400 meter chamber marked with the W74E3 symbol was built in accordance with the latest European Union standards in the turnkey system.

Time of completion: Mining works (preparatory) were started in autumn of 2013, the final reception of the facility ended with the transfer of the investor in the spring / May / 2016.

In the 400 m long chamber there are:
 
• two electric hoists and large size wheel assembly machines
• seven functional inspection and repair channels,
• an overhead crane with a length of over one hundred meters.

• fire protection installation
• drainage installation
• compressed air installation
• a room with an electrical transfomator station
The chamber has been equipped with grinders, drills, lathes, pole cranes, dedusting and filtering welding gases. Sewage pumps have been installed in the inspection channels.

Project outline

Heavy machinery chamber is a place where all repairs and inspections of the machine park in the mine are made. It also serves as a stopping place for unused equipment and machines.

Greatest challenges

The greatest logistical challenge was to develop a schedule for leaving and coordinating the transport of huge amounts of building materials at the bottom of the mine, such as concrete blocks, cement and a gravel mixture. The process of pouring the concrete floor over the entire surface of the chamber was made conditional by the current assembly of the necessary installations and equipment of the facility's equipment. This had a significant impact on the date of putting the investment into use.
An important part of the project was the installation and commissioning of an alarm and hands-free system linked along the entire length of the chamber with a fiber optic installation. Also, the visual signaling of the occupancy of the inspection channels was installed, four ventilation ducts were installed and the closure and opening signalling was made, which will be monitored by the supervising person leading the change.

Key moment

An important moment for this type of investment are the stepwise technical acceptance of individual installations and devices by experts and all institutions authorized to do so, from which opinions the investor's documentation for final acceptance is prepared.
