PeBeKa prepares shaft L-VI for new tasks

Shaft L-VI in Rynarcice, which has for years acted as a ventilation facility, will change in 2018 its function. It will be used for employees descending into the Lubin mine. Also materials will be transported there. Przedsiębiorstwo Budowy Kopalń PeBeKa got a contract for a comprehensive shaft modernisation and preparation for the new assignments.

Shaft L-VI is currently non-functional and acts only as a ventilation facility - it provides the Lubin mine with fresh air. A small shaft top with a heater system is located on the outset, the purpose of which is to heat up the inlet air during winter months. Over the shaft there is a tower-type headgear structure built when L-VI was meant to perform mining function, and in addition - to ensure descent of people and materials underground.

As the deposit mining has been moving northwards, the commuting time and the time of transporting materials to the bottom of the mine considerably extended. In order to facilitate those processes, a decision was made to change the L-VI shaft assignment into the human and materials descent function. PeBeKa was chosen to carry out the project, and a contract was signed with the Lubin Mine in 2015 for the construction of a shaft complex together with transport logistics.

Over the modernisation period, the shaft ventilation function will be maintained, and the breathable air will be heated during the winter season. Work completion is scheduled for 2018.
