Renovation work in shaft SW-4 ended

The renovation of the salt section in the SW-4 shaft is complete. The purpose of the work was to restore the cross section of the working, as its diameter had decreased due to the compression of salt deposits.

Started in December 2014, the renovation was carried out at a depth of 1026-1182 metres. The mining work was carried out from a special cementation platform and consisted in disassembly of the existing lining and removing the salt, which enabled restoration of the original diameter of the well. Next, the new shell-type and arch supports were installed to protect the shaft walls - the last steel support was anchored in December last year. The final element of the renovation was disassembly of the cementation platform.

In January this year, further work commenced in the SW-4 shaft, e.g. disassembly of construction equipment such as technological water piping and the power cable. Currently, PeBeKa is dismantling the temporary equipment from the rock drawing period. After that, the SW-4 shaft team will start furnishing the shaft for its final use.
